Trump to Meet Gulf, Middle East Leaders at G7 Summit in France

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump will hold a series of high-stakes bilateral meetings with Middle East leaders on the sidelines of next week's G7 summit in France, US officials confirmed Saturday.

Trump is scheduled to meet separately with the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, alongside bilateral sessions with the heads of government of France and India. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not expected to feature in the meetings, officials added.

The Trump administration expressed confidence it had secured a robust agreement, with officials noting that fellow G7 nations have a range of tools at their disposal to reinforce progress once the deal with Iran moves forward.

As part of the emerging arrangements, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz without tolls, at which point the US will lift its blockade and participate in demining operations in the waterway, officials said.

— G7 Agenda: Trade, AI, Ukraine and Energy
The G7 gathering will convene leaders from the US, France, Germany, the UK, Canada, Italy, Japan and the EU, with an expansive agenda spanning trade relations, critical mineral supply chains, artificial intelligence, and the protracted Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump's own agenda at the summit is expected to center on economic growth, national security, supply-chain resilience, artificial intelligence, deregulation and expanding energy production, according to officials.

While no formal bilateral has been arranged between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, officials indicated the Ukrainian leader may participate in a working session alongside G7 heads of government.
